Director of Technology

Job description

We are looking for a Director of Technology and Infrastructure to join our Tech team in Paris. The team focuses on building our educational platform to make our students successful.

Your primary responsibility is the availability, the security and the performance of the platform, including the quality of the software.

You will carry the Technical vision to ensure a world-class platform quality and support all the teams in their relationship with technology and tools.

You will work closely with the engineering managers, the QA Director and the Product Design Director to define and fulfill the vision but you’ll also have lots of opportunities to work across the larger organization on different challenging projects.

The technical stack includes mainly PHP (Symfony), React, Swift, PostgreSQL, AWS, Salesforce. You will manage our external DevOps contractor to ensure the reliability and the scalability of the infrastructure.


  • Defining, evolving and implementing OpenClassrooms' Architectural Principles
  • Researching global technology trends and their applicability to OpenClassrooms' capabilities
  • Working cross-functionally with teams inside OpenClassrooms and influence decision making within senior-level audiences
  • Representing OpenClassrooms at technology conferences and at executive level customer engagements
  • Maintaining strong relationships with key customers, partners, and vendors
  • Promoting a positive work environment; select and train new team members; continuously provide feedback, mentoring, and coaching to existing team members
  • Managing a small IT Team

Reporting line

Reports to the CTO.

Job requirements

  • At least 4 years experience in a similar position and 10 years experience in Technology
  • Experience in running a 24x7 high-availability operation with proven success building out processes at Internet-scale
  • Extensive experience in Application Architecture such as Clean Architecture, Domain-Driven Design
  • Strong experience in Cloud infrastructure, Security and database management
  • Experience in supporting Business and Sales teams
  • Deep knowledge of the latest technologies and engineering trends, tools and platforms including the Software development lifecycle
  • Detail-oriented with great organizational skills, comfortable with ambiguity
  • Ability to distill complex issues into structured frameworks and concrete action plans
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, ability to be personable yet persistent
  • Passion for technology and communications, well-versed on the latest trends
