With 3m monthly learners, thousands of full-time Diploma students and hundreds of employer (b2b) clients utilising our highly flexible and scalable solutions.

At the start of 2019 we began full entry into the US, with a focus on apprenticeships and reskilling to corporates, which we will accelerate further in 2020 and beyond.


The role of the Business Development team within OpenClassrooms is to identify and execute international expansion and develop new areas of business - new markets, new distribution channels, new products and new clients. The team works across Europe, USA and Africa with employers, academic partners and public/social bodies to provide and grow job-ready talent to employers in high demand tech occupations.

In order to achieve our growth ambitions, we are now recruiting a new Senior Business Development Manager – US Market who will help us scale OpenClassrooms in the US and bring it to its full potential. With a core focus on large employers, apprenticeships and reskilling solutions. We need a motivated and skilled professional with a passion for finding and growing a new corporate customer base.


Reports to the Head of Strategic Partnerships & Business Development - North America


The overall responsibilities of the Senior Business Development Manager - US Market are:

  • Generate new business with corporate clients through ongoing and strategic prospecting and follow-up
  • Upsell existing US customers
  • Leverage French customer base with US footprint to cross sell
  • Implement apprenticeship and reskilling cohorts with large employers
  • Represent OpenClassrooms at industry events
  • Produce generic and partner-specific proposals, concept papers, presentations and marketing documents that communicate the core concepts of our business strategy, mission, impact, and products to multiple audiences, including academic partners, tech companies, senior leadership, and policy makers
  • Manage and write complex proposals that require coordination between multiple teams
  • Steward relationships with current and future customers through ongoing and strategic follow-up, communication, and outreach as needed
  • Maintain a high standard of data quality in Salesforce on partners and opportunities



    • Native in English; French appreciated
    • Experience and an existing network in the US apprenticeship, bootcamp, vocational training, tech recruitment or education technology sector
    • Demonstrated success in Saas and other technology sales & implementations
    • Excellent business writing and editing skills and strong attention to detail. At least five years of experience in a role that requires significant writing in support of complex projects is preferred (consulting, pre-sales, consultative sales, partnerships)
    • Business acumen, analytical ability with a data-driven approach to solving problems
    • Demonstrated project management skills and a love of getting things done
    • Ability to thrive and develop relationships in fast-paced, collaborative, and ambiguous environments
    • A hands-on, “roll up the sleeves,” action-oriented approach
    • Strong personal passion for education technology, employability, and deep faith in the mission of OpenClassrooms
    • Some experience in startup growth preferred


    • Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience
    • The position will be based in our New York office, and involve frequent travel within the US and to the OpenClassrooms HQ based in Paris, France.


    The journey starts with a phone interview with Alexandra, Hiring Manager (20 min)

    Then a face-to-face meeting with Kurt, Director of US Partnerships & Business Development (1 hour)

    This will then be followed by a face-to-face interview with Attila, VP Strategic Partnership & Biz Dev ( 1hour)

    For the very final round, you will come to Paris for the day and meet other teams in OpenClassrooms in Paris (Brand & Comms, Education, Employers & Student Success, Finance…)
