UX Writer (English-speaking Markets)

Job description

OpenClassrooms is looking for a versatile UX Writer to partner with design, product, engineering, and marketing to shape great user experiences across applications that help students complete their studies.

You will help set the vision for content and drive cohesive product narratives across multiple platforms and touch points.
You will play a vital role in defining content strategy, influencing user experience, and evolving OpenClassrooms’ brand, voice, and content standards.


Reports to the VP of Communications.



  • Write and edit clear, consistent, concise user-interface content, emails, notifications, and product tours, that facilitate the full end-to-end user experience journey.

  • Champion a cohesive brand story across our entire ecosystem of product offerings.

  • Maintain and document evolving content, brand, and voice/tone standards.

  • Manage content production and edition workflow.



  • A native level of spoken and written English. Speaking and writing French is a plus.

  • A mastery of the American English writing and grammar style.

  • Have empathy for your audience and can anticipate user needs.

  • Always choose clear and concise over clever and wordy to get an idea across.

  • Love both strategy and hands-on writing and editing.

  • Concept on the fly and collaborate with anyone to get things done.

  • Thrive in a fast-paced organization.

  • Knowledge of online technology and related products, including web and mobile UI tools.

  • Experience with SEO, localization, and accessibility best practices.


  • BA/BS degree in English, Journalism, Technical Writing, UX, HCI, or related work experience.

  • Minimum 4 years experience in user-focused writing or editing (e.g. web and mobile interfaces, digital agency, documentation, education, or journalism).

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • A portfolio of work that shows a range of content you’ve created, such as interaction flows, emails, product tours, educational materials, and style guides.

  • Experience in working closely with Engineering, Design, and Product Management teams.

  • Experience in education would be a plus.


The journey starts with a phone interview with a Hiring Manager.

Then, we plan face-to-face meetings with members from the Product Management, UX, UI, and Development team.  

For the final round, you will meet the VP of Communications and members from other teams.

You will be asked to provide professional references.
